Affliction

At first sight my eyes fixed on her
I developed an immediate affection
She was so charming and beautiful
Making her mine became my intention
Yet I was in a state of affliction

Weeks passed without communication
I was forced to speak with her
The anxiety and tension had to end
My mind made me suffer
For every thought was of her

I discovered she was my ever desire
Smart, sophisticated, and sarcastic as well
A being of pure perfection
My heart began to yell
Because in love I think I fell

With hopes of a mutual feeling
I discovered, she I could not sway
Dreams crumbled at the hands of rejection
I was left in disarray
Why would it be this way

Feeling foolish for following fairy tales
Their happy endings caused my deception
But memories of her divinity
Reminded me of my intention
Because I was still in a state of affliction
