10 Years Old

I'm From a teasing big brother

               And tire swings to

               'wide open spaces' and

               The Dixie Chicks.

I'm From stuffed animal stuffing

              Across the living room to

              Riding horses and a scary

              new year in Westernaires.

From 'none of your beeswax' and

and singing in the shower to

            my favorites like Nerds and

            Tim McGraw and Shania Twain.

I'm From waiting to grow up and

            experience middle school

            and high school. And crushing

            on guys and waiting to

            fulfill my dream career.

I'm From the wilderness of the

            green mountains, rolling

       up

                     and

                                   down...

I'm From waking up to three

            feet of snow covering

my house, to snow days or weeks.

     From hard landings after sledding

And a continuous crunch, crunch, crunch

           under my feet while

           walking from school.

I'm From melting memories

          to a new, more happy

season. Bright colorful meadows of busy life,

          the bees hard at work,

          the rabbits enjoying

         the warm season, and

the flowers soaking up the sun.

I'm From a year moving on

        And coming to the

        Next.

I'm from all my memories.

I am From the past.
