“Fatal Exchange”

“Fire in the eyes and the taste of bitterness in the soul.

Seeping from the pit of ‘How Do I Feel?’ is the deliverance of unjustified truths.

Who’s to know who you are if you’ve lost count of just how many times you’ve changed your face?

Who’s to say that the answer is ‘nay’ when everyone around you is a ‘yes’ man?

‘Yes’ for all things beautiful!  ‘Yes’ toward the extermination of what was once a beautiful thing!

A last the stage’s curtains have caught alight!  And the mask you now reach for has fallen.

Now is the time for a break.

Who’s to know who you are if you lack an identity?

That, I do wonder.

I do wonder about that, indeed.

This poem is about:
Our world
